This picture captured Jackie in his glory.  He was a great radio operator and had a great, sometimes wicked sense of humor (as you can see by the picture).  You wanted to be around Jackie.  He didn't suffer fools easily yet was a humble soul and let you in on the joke if you let him.  To see a picture of Jackie's gravesite, go to: findagrave.com.

Emma Jean Henry, 70 of St. Petersburg,Fl., died on July 9, 2013. She was employed with the St. Petersburg Police Department as a 911 operator and retired from US Air Force. She is survived by 3 siblings; aunt; other relatives and friends.  Emma is interred at:  Sarasota VA National Cemetery 9810 State Hwy 72 Sarasota, Fl. 34241

Celebration of Life service for TSgt. Horsley Shorter, Jr. (retired) who passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013, will be held Saturday, July 27th, 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Church, 1510 W. Hillsborough Ave., Mike Tedder, pastor with Rev. Leonard Harrington, Officiating and Pastor Tom Jones, Eulogist. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Monday, July 29, 2013. Horsley Shorter, Jr. was born in Reynolds, Georgia (Macon County) to Mrs. Hattie Lee Shorter and the late Mr. Horsley Shorter, Sr. He attended Hillsborough County Public Schools and graduated from Tampa Bay Technical High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981 and served in the Army until 1997; he re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served the Air Force until 2004, retiring after 23 years of service. After retirement, he relocated to Maryland and worked as a security officer. He later returned back to Tampa to care for his mother. Horsley, Jr. was a member of the Mason’s and loved volunteering at Memorial Hospital. Horsley, Jr. was very athletic and loved to going to the gym. He received numerous military awards for being physically fit. He also played co-ed softball and flag football. Horsley, Jr. loved to “Dress” from head to toe! Horsley, Jr. worked at Family Dollar as manager until he was called home. Horsley Shorter, Jr. was preceded in death by his father, Horsley Shorter, Sr. He leaves to cherish his loving memories with his loving mother, Hattie Lee Shorter; siblings, Ozie Lee Carson, Ft. Myers, FL, Wilbert Shorter (Mary), Tampa, Annie Lee Shorter, Butler, GA, Ella Coleman, Tampa, David Shorter (Ruby), Tampa, Clarence Shorter (Stephanie), Alabama, Trinetta Williams (George), Brandon and Robert Kelly (Doris), Tampa; god mother, Olivia Carmichael-Brown; god brother, Ron Carmichael, god son, Destin Paramoure, 30 nieces and nephews; 52 great nieces and nephews; 16 great great nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends; if we have omitted anyone it was of our grieving minds not of our hearts. The visitation will be held at Aikens Funeral Home, 2708 E. Dr. MLK, Jr. Blvd, from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26th and the family will receive guest from 5 to 6 p.m. The friends are asked to meet at the church on Saturday for the service.
